Latvian AST makes full use of Guarantees of Origin nationally and internationally
In 2019 the Latvian legislation changed. This enabled Augstsprieguma tīkls (or AST) to start the purchasing process for a registry system of Guarantees of Origin.
Once the official mandate was finalized and the tendering process began, Grexel participated in the tendering and won it.
“We were very excited about the chance to work with AST on their registry solution”, says Marko Lehtovaara, the CEO of Grexel.
“Every meeting with Marko was very valuable. . We got many great tips and good advice, as well as information on the system of Guarantees of Origin.”, ASTs Head of Data Analysis Group, Aigars Sīlis.
“I was impressed with Grexel’s expertise and activeness towards AIB. The project also progressed quickly and the project stuck to the schedule, which is of course always important. “, Sīlis says.
Roughly a half of Latvian energy is produced by renewables and the volumes of issued Guarantees of Origin have been nationally significant from the start. This is why easy deployment process was important for AST. They were happy to see the co-operation with Grexel’s project manager was smooth and technical specialists answered all questions quickly.
“All in all, our customer experience has been great, also after the deployment. For instance, for our last change request, both time and cost were estimated beforehand, so we knew what to expect. Can you imagine our surprise, when the final invoice was actually smaller than the estimate had been?”, laughs Sīlis.
