Exciting News for Kosovo’s Energy Sector!

On July 1, 2024, the Energy Regulatory Office of Kosovo (ERO) officially activated the System of Guarantees of Origin, in collaboration with GREXEL, a leading platform provider. This marks a significant milestone in Kosovo’s journey toward a sustainable energy future.

This achievement aligns with the obligations set forth by the Clean Energy Package under Directive 2018/2001, aiming to promote the use of energy from Renewable Energy Sources. By partially transposing these directives into Kosovo’s national legislation, specifically through the Law on the Promotion of the Use of Renewable Energy Sources No. 08/L-258, Kosovo is taking concrete steps toward a greener energy transition.

Grexel’s CEO Markus Klimscheffskij  shares the excitement about the project: “It has been an honor and pleasure to work with ERO-KS to build the Kosovian registry for guarantees of origin. The registry is connected to the other Energy Community registries and fully technically compliant with the AIB EECS Standard.
