Cesar – A Tailor-Made System for Sweden
The central registry for the Swedish national support certificate scheme, Cesar, is a perfect example of Grexel’s long-term commitment to continuous development. Sweden’s Energy Agency, Energimyndigheten, uses our tailor-made system to manage the issuance, trade and annual quota fulfilment of the scheme. The system was originally built for Svenska Kraftnät,Sweden’s national electricity grid operator, as early as 2003, being one of the first quota compliance certificate registries in the world. Turning 10 years of age early 2013, it was replaced with a new, Grexel Certification Framework (GCF) based system. In 2015, the system changed hands and Energimyndigheten replaced Svenska Kraftnät as the body in charge of managing the certificates in Cesar.
The Cesar registry enables the handling of guarantees of origin and renewable energy support certificates (elcertificates) in Sweden. And, since the deployment of the Norwegian registry (also powered by Grexel) in 2011, it is possible to trade support certificates between Sweden and Norway. Like all Grexel’s registry systems, Cesar has an easy-to-use, web-based user interface, which is constantly updated by Grexel to meet the latest requirements of the certificate markets and its participants.
